The Island & the Illusion of Choice: How Circumcision Mirrors Manufactured Consent

“You’re special. You’ve been chosen.” – The Island (2005)
Imagine being born into a world where you are told that a great event has already decided your fate. You never question it, because from the moment you open your eyes, the world around you reinforces the idea that it’s for your own good. You don’t even realize you were never given a choice.
This is the reality for the characters in The Island—and for millions of men circumcised at birth.
The 2005 sci-fi thriller The Island, directed by Michael Bay, tells the story of Lincoln Six Echo and Jordan Two Delta, two individuals living in a controlled environment, believing they are survivors of a global catastrophe. They dream of one day being chosen to go to The Island, the last uncontaminated paradise. But when Lincoln starts questioning his world, he discovers the horrifying truth: they are clones, created solely to provide organs, tissues, and body parts for their wealthy human counterparts. Their entire existence is a lie, carefully constructed to keep them docile, compliant, and unaware of the exploitation happening to their bodies.
This dystopian scenario might seem extreme, but in reality, the principles behind The Islandeerily parallel the practice of infant circumcision.
• Just like the clones, men who were circumcised at birth never consented to what was done to them.
• Just like the clones, they were told a false narrative—that it was for their health, their hygiene, or even God’s will.
• And just like the clones, their bodies were used for profit—their foreskins taken without their knowledge and sold to the highest bidder.
Are we really living in The Island? Let’s break it down.
⸻
1. Manufactured Consent: How the System Controls Perception
In The Island, the clones have been conditioned from birth to believe in a fabricated reality. They live in a sterile, enclosed facility where every aspect of their lives is carefully controlled. They are taught that they were “rescued” from a contaminated world and that their only hope is to be selected for The Island.
But the truth is, The Island doesn’t exist. It’s a lie—a manufactured dream used to keep them obedient while their real purpose remains hidden: to be harvested for their body parts.
Circumcision & Manufactured Consent
Now, consider how infant circumcision is presented to parents:
• “It’s cleaner.”
• “It prevents disease.”
• “He won’t even remember it.”
• “It’s just a little snip.”
These statements are drilled into parents by doctors, cultural norms, and outdated medical recommendations. The truth—that the foreskin is a functional, highly sensitive organ—is actively withheld. Instead of being given all the facts, parents are conditioned to believe that circumcision is necessary, beneficial, and even a sign of love.
Most circumcised men grow up never questioning it because, just like the clones in The Island, they were never given a reason to. Their world—family, doctors, and society—tells them it was for their own good. It’s not until they start questioning the practice that they begin to see the deception for what it is.
Psychological Control & Cognitive Dissonance
• In The Island, when clones witness something that contradicts their beliefs, they experience cognitive dissonance—a deep psychological discomfort. Many dismiss it at first, unwilling to believe that their reality is a lie.
• The same happens when circumcised men first learn the truth. Many reject it outright: “If it was bad, why would my parents have done it?” or “If it was harmful, doctors wouldn’t allow it.”
This is why the system keeps people ignorant—because once you see the lie, you can’t unsee it.
The system that justifies circumcision, like the facility in The Island, relies on controlling the narrative and ensuring that people never realize they are victims of a massive deception.
⸻
2. Profiting from the Body: The Hidden Industry Behind Circumcision
In The Island, the clones are commodities—grown, maintained, and eventually harvested to benefit paying clients. The people running the facility make billions by providing body parts, and they go to extreme lengths to keep the business running smoothly.
This exact structure exists in the circumcision industry.
How Circumcision Generates Profit Without Consent
1. The Medical Industry Profits from the Procedure
• In the U.S., hospitals charge parents for the circumcision itself. Even though it’s not medically necessary, it is often pushed on new parents as a routine procedure.
• Insurance companies, medical organizations, and individual doctors benefit financially from continuing to perform circumcision.
2. The Foreskin is Sold for Biotech & Cosmetic Use
• Infant foreskins are used for biomedical research, skin grafts, and high-end cosmetics.
• Companies like Neocutis openly use foreskin-derived fibroblasts in anti-aging products.
• Pharmaceutical companies use foreskins for stem cell research and skin regeneration treatments.
• Some hospitals even sell foreskins to research labs, making money off something parents weren’t even told had value.
3. The Psychological Investment in Keeping the Practice Alive
• Just like in The Island, where the elite hide the truth to protect their business, the organizations that promote circumcision refuse to acknowledge the harm because they profit from it.
• Medical groups often ignore or downplay the risks—not because they don’t exist, but because acknowledging them would threaten the entire system.
The Clone Factory vs. The Circumcision Industry
| The Island (Clone Facility) | Circumcision Industry |
| Clones are raised in ignorance about their real purpose. | Parents are misled about circumcision, believing it’s necessary. |
| The facility makes millions selling body parts. | Hospitals and biotech companies profit from circumcision. |
| The clones are never told the truth about their bodies. | Men are never told what was taken from them. |
Just as the clones were lied to from birth, parents today are sold a false narrative—one that benefits those in power, not the people it affects.
And just like Lincoln and Jordan, men are starting to wake up to the reality of what was done to them.
⸻
3. Breaking Free: What The Island Teaches Us About Bodily Autonomy
Lincoln and Jordan escape the system and discover the truth about their origins. They realize their bodies were never theirs to begin with—they were being used, manipulated, and exploited.
For circumcised men, learning the truth can feel like the same kind of awakening. The realization that your bodily autonomy was stolen from you without your consent is both painful and liberating.
What Can We Learn from The Island?
1. Question everything – Just because something is common doesn’t mean it’s right.
2. Follow the money – If a practice persists despite ethical concerns, ask who profits from it.
3. Bodily autonomy matters – No one has the right to permanently alter another person’s body without consent.
4. We can break the cycle – The more people question circumcision, the harder it becomes for the system to maintain the illusion.
Lincoln and Jordan fought to expose the truth and reclaim their freedom. We must do the same.
❗ It’s Time to Wake Up.
The Island was fiction. Circumcision is real. The deception has gone on long enough. The only way to stop it is to expose the truth and protect future generations. Are you ready to break the cycle?
